Arthur van der Vant serves as an Illinois Receiver and Assignee with a primary client base in Cook, Lake, and DuPage counties. Van der Vant is recognized as an expert in corporate turnaround management and renewal. To date, Arthur van der Vant has assisted in the management or conveyance of over 10,000 properties globally in the capacity of broker, manager, consultant, auctioneer, or court appointed receiver. In 1987, Arthur van der Vant began his career as an entrepreneur and business professional, founding a successful real estate brokerage company, and later title insurance company. As President and CEO of Major Enterprises, Inc. he was responsible for guiding the real estate brokerage through a 600% agent growth. Arthur van der Vant managed an annual sales volume of $1 billion during his time with Major Enterprises and helped lead the firm into a position as one of the top ranked agencies in Illinois. Moreover, Arthur van der Vant is internationally recognized as having assisted in the organization of the secondary mortgage market in Poland. From 2002 to 2004, the Polish Housing and Urban Development Administration retained Arthur van der Vant as a consultant and liaison to Fannie Mae. Mr. van der Vant served as a speaker in many international conferences and lectured at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Szczecin, Poland; Polish Real Estate Federation; and Warsaw Association of Realtors. Arthur also assisted in organization of the Polish Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
Currently, Arthur van der Vant serves as Illinois Receiver. His primary function is to preserve and manage financially distressed assets in litigation, until which time they are sold or otherwise dispersed. Arthur van der Vant may be appointed to oversee operations of an asset for its benefactors during legal proceedings in Illinois State and Federal Courts. Acting as Illinois Receiver, Arthur van der Vant is responsible for assuming a leadership role in the day-to-day management of troubled assets.
In addition to his responsibilities as a receiver, Arthur van der Vant is an assignee under Illinois Common Law for the Assignment for the Benefits of Creditors (ABC). In this role, he oversees all aspects, and seizes control of, the debtor’s assets where he may choose to liquidate or continue to manage a profit bearing organization. As the assigned trustee, Arthur van der Vant may be able to help a debtor stay out of bankruptcy by effectively controlling assets through a time efficient and cost-effective process, as well as, provide creditors with the highest return in the shortest possible time.
Arthur van der Vant is an active member of The National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (NABT); the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI); The Turnaround Management Association (TMA); and, the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL). Additionally, Arthur van der Vant is designated as a Certified Auctioneers Institute Member (CAI) and an Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE).
Arthur van der Vant is a 2003 graduate of both the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute and the Illinois Association of Realtors Leadership Development Academy. As well, Arthur van der Vant attended Indiana University for three years of graduate-level curriculum and training to earn his CAI recognition. Also in 2003, he trained on Policy and Regulatory Challenges of Housing Finance and Emerging Markets in Washington, DC at the World Bank Headquarters.
Among other things setting Arthur van der Vant apart from other receivers and assignees in the state of Illinois is his designation as a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), a recognition given by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. This award is bestowed only to those with qualifying education and experience in recognition of their expertise in all aspects of real estate and asset management. With this membership, Arthur van der Vant joins a small and elite group of CCIM designees.
As a member of the Illinois CCIM Chapter, Arthur van der Vant has served as President, Vice President, Director, Board Member, and Treasurer. From 2002 to 2004 he served the Chicago Association of Realtors as both a Board Member and Director. During that time he was also heavily involved in the international committee of the group. Arthur van der Vant is licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and is also an Associate Member of The Chicago Bar Association.
